07.21.11                                                                                                          Escondido Community Prayer

Mission Statement:  Jer. 29.7 reminds us to seek God’s favor for our city.

PRAISE HIM, Jehovah Jireh:  As He invites us to focus upon Him, His Word, realize, despite what we may regret is or is not happening in Escondido, He can provide wisdom to our city leadership and bureaucracy.      The difficulties and challenges facing Escondido can be occasions for more to come to Christ, more to want to see Christ be their shelter and source of strength as they proceed with daily responsibilities.

Ps.91.1-2  He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of  the Lord: He is my refuge, and my fortress;  My God, in whom I trust. NIV

FAMILIES:  CA ist state in nation to require public schools teach gay history beginning at kindergarten.  And possibly once ensconced will require of all students (to be fair) and part of testing requirements.  Is. 5.20,21 “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light . .who are wise in their own eyes.”

The definition of marriage remains in doubt as CA courts continue to rule against Prop. 8.

CITY LEADERSHIP:  Though he is not directly associated with Escondido, he is a brother in Christ willing to be a servant leader.  And if elected mayor of San Diego, depending on how he presents himself and his agenda to the residents of San Diego, could be a message to Escondido as to the type of persons we wish to lead us as we continue to plod with seemingly inscrutable financial issues.  Prov. 11.3 “The integrity of the upright guides them,” and v.10 “When the righteous (lead) the city rejoices”.

Praise & Prayer:  That we continue with the invocations, their effect and affect upon the City and those in attendance.   ACLU wishes to remove God from this town in the public forum—still allow at church and home.  Pray that our town would “see” the mercies of God and be persuaded to continue and to invite on other occasions prayer for Escondido

FIRST RESPONDERS:  Polarizing of our community over the issue of who should be allowed to drive in Escondido and under what circumstances or methodology should be seek to be assured the “rules of the road” are respected.  In the middle our Police Department—even if they are right in applying the law, maybe ½ the town angrily disagrees.

CITY FINANCES:  State of CA appropriated City of Esc. and other municipalities’ redevelopment $ in effort to claim a balanced State budget, robbing Escondido of needed capital which was to be applied toward local infra-structure and commerce, which in turn could have generated jobs and sales taxes.  Sacramento spent it.

THE CURCH:  That all of us who are part of the Body would identify with God’s directive, if we wish to see our country and its policies become aligned with God’s Will, we begin across our fence and within our town.  We feed on His Word and are never far nor delinguint from prayer.

VETERANS, MILITARY:

PRAISE:  Lord God merciful, gracious (Ex.34.6) abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness; Deut.4.31 Lord God is a merciful God; Extends Himself wanting us to experience fullness of life, laid His life as our Good Shepherd (John 10.10,11); He has chosen us, extended mercy to us Col.3.12; that He calls us to be merciful as our witness of having received His mercy I John.3.17.
